Born on December 27, 1995, Jonah Michael Bride is an eminent figure in the world of baseball. He is known for his remarkable contribution as a professional baseball infielder. He currently plays for the Miami Marlins, one of the esteemed clubs in Major League Baseball (MLB). However, his journey toward fame commenced with the Oakland Athletics, another prestigious club in MLB.
Born and raised in the state of Oklahoma, Jonah passed out from Owasso High School. After completing high school, his earnest interest in baseball guided him to further stifle his success in the sport. The young baseball enthusiast pursued his fascination by playing college baseball at two distinguished institutions, Neosho County Community College and the University of South Carolina.
His contributions on the field were acknowledged by the Oakland Athletics who selected Jonah as their 23rd round pick in the 2018 Major League Baseball draft. This was just the start of Jonah’s professional journey as he signed with Oakland and started ramping up his skills in the sport. His professional debut saw him adorned in the Arizona League Athletics’ jersey and his impressive performance quickly led to his promotion to Vermont Lake Monsters.
Throughout his journey with the two clubs, Jonah played 56 games, recorded a commendable average of .280, and secured three home runs and 34 RBIs. The 2019 season was spent with Stockton Ports and Midland RockHounds. Jonah left an impressive trail behind, hitting a .277 with ten home runs and 58 RBIs spanning across 117 games.
Despite the cancellation of the minor league game in 2020, Jonah returned with undying spirit in 2021. He returned to Midland, managing to slash to .265/.407/.424 with nine home runs and 49 RBIs over 78 games.
Owing to Jonah’s numerous accomplishments, Athletics added him to their 40-man roster post the 2021 season. He began the 2022 season with the Las Vegas Aviators but was soon promoted to the major leagues on June 14. On his debut night in MLB, he got his first major league hit against the Boston Red Sox. His triumph continued as he hit his first major league home run against the New York Yankees’ Gerrit Cole on August 26, 2022.
Despite his stellar performances, Jonah had to begin the 2023 season with the Triple-A Las Vegas. He was called back to the majors in May. Although he only batted .170/.286/.205 with no home runs and 7 RBIs in the 40 games for Oakland, Jonah’s zeal towards the sport remained unscathed.
The year 2024 brought new challenges and opportunities for Jonah. He was designated for assignment after Oakland acquired Ross Stripling, only to be traded to the Miami Marlins on February 6, 2024, following a cash consideration deal. On April 4, 2024, Jonah was sent down again, but given his dedication and talent, he was recalled on May 4, 2024, to replace Luis Arráez, who had been traded.
Jonah Michael Bride’s story is a testament to resilience, perseverance, and passion. His remarkable journey is the yarn from which champions are woven and serves as an inspiration to budding athletes worldwide.
