Darren Scott McCaughan is an American professional baseball pitcher renowned for his outstanding pitching skills. Born on March 18, 1996, Darren currently pitches for the Miami Marlins of Major League Baseball (MLB). However, he has previously played for the Seattle Mariners and the Cleveland Guardians in the MLB, beginning his debut in 2021.

Hailing from Los Alamitos, California, Darren attended Los Alamitos High School. His commitment to baseball was significant, and during his junior year in 2013, he secured a spot to play college baseball at Long Beach State University. Undeterred by not being drafted out of high school in the MLB draft 2014, Darren enrolled at Long Beach State to play for the college team, the Dirtbags.

At Long Beach State, Darren’s performance as a freshman in 2015 was commendable – he held a 4-2 record with a 2.47 ERA in 23 games, with three starts. The year 2016 saw Darren up his game as a sophomore, where he boasted a 10-1 record with a 2.03 ERA in 16 starts. His spectacular performance earned him the title of Big West Pitcher of the Year, and he was named an All-American by multiple outlets including Collegiate Baseball and Perfect Game.

By 2023, Darren had further refined his skills, recording a 5.40 ERA with ten strikeouts across 5.0 innings of work in three appearances for the Seattle Mariners. 2024 saw Darren being transferred twice, first to the Miami Marlins, then to the Cleveland Guardians.

Following an exchange for cash considerations, Darren started pitching for the Miami Marlins. Although his time with the Marlins was brief, owing to being designated for assignment, Darren managed to make a lasting impression.
