Connor Norby's Biography

Connor David Norby, a professional American baseball player, was born on June 8, 2000. Known by many as a diligent and skilled second baseman, he is currently a part of the Miami Marlins, a team part of Major League Baseball (MLB). His performance in MLB has also been witnessed by the audience of the Baltimore Orioles, a team for which he played before joining the Marlins.

Norby’s life started in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, where he was born and spent the initial years of his life. Later on, he shifted to Kernersville, North Carolina, before he stepped into high school. East Forsyth High School is where he chiseled his early education.

Eventually, Norby found himself in the fields of East Carolina University, playing college baseball for the East Carolina Pirates. His freshman season saw him engage in 26 games, starting two of them. Having batted .194 that season, Norby displayed undeniable dedication and sportsmanship.

His abilities bloomed further in his sophomore year, during which he boasted a batting average of .403. With 25 hits and 14 runs under his belt in merely 17 games, Norby’s performance was ace. This season, however, was truncated soon due to the unfortunate eruption of the coronavirus pandemic.

Unfazed and driven, Norby returned the following season with an unwavering spirit. His batting average lingered as high as .415, and he accomplished a record of 15 home runs, 15 doubles, 51 runs batted in (RBIs) and 18 stolen bases. On account of such a remarkable performance, he was rightfully awarded the American Athletic Conference Player of the Year.

The same season, he led NCAA Division I with a whopping 102 total hits, earning him further recognition. Norby received the honor of being a first team All-American from both the American Baseball Coaches Association and Baseball America. In the same stride, he won the Bobby Bragan Collegiate Slugger Award.

In the wake of his praiseworthy college performance, the Baltimore Orioles chose him in the second round of the 2021 MLB draft, making him the 41st overall pick. Norby officially joined the team on July 16, 2021, and was rewarded with a $1.7 million bonus.

Initiating his professional career at the Rookie level, Norby was assigned to the Florida Complex League Orioles. His flourish didn’t halt, as he was soon promoted to the Delmarva Shorebirds of the Low-A East. Over 33 games featuring the two teams, Norby secured an average slash line of .264/.380/.405 with three home runs, 19 RBIs, and six stolen bases.

As the 2022 season began, Norby was assigned to the High-A Aberdeen Ironbirds by the Orioles. Before his promotion to the Double-A Bowie Baysox on June 27, Norby had already achieved a batting average of .237, with 8 home runs, 6 stolen bases by 209 plate appearances.

He joined the Norfolk Tides, leaving memorable footprints in the Triple-A National Championship Game, scoring two runs, an RBI, walks, and a homer. His striking homer happened in the ninth inning against the Oklahoma City Dodgers, bringing the victory to the Norfolk Tides by 7-6.

Norby spent his 2023 season with Norfolk, playing in 138 games. His performance stayed consistent throughout. With average statistics of .290/.359/.483, 21 home runs, 92 RBIs, and 10 stolen bases, he was a marvel.

His 2024 season started with Norfolk as well, delivering an average of .286/.374/.510, nine home runs, 36 RBI, and seven stolen bases across 51 games. On June 3, 2024, the Orioles took him to the major leagues by selecting him to the 40-man roster.

However, Norby’s journey with the Orioles came to an end when they traded him and Kyle Stowers to the Miami Marlins. The trade, which took place on July 30, 2024, was made in exchange for pitcher Trevor Rogers. As the part of the Marlins, Norby is ready to add to his list of baseball glories.
