Colten Thomas Keith, commonly known as Colten Keith, was born on August 14th, 2001 in the United States. He is renowned in the sports realm as an extraordinary second baseman in professional baseball. His prowess on the diamond has landed him a prestigious position with the acclaimed Major League Baseball (MLB) team, the Detroit Tigers. His high-anticipated debut in the MLB transpired in 2024.

Keith’s early life narratives unfolded in the midwestern state of Ohio until he was eight years old, which is when his family made a significant move to Utah. Then at the age of twelve, his family embarked on another transformative journey, this time to Buckeye, Arizona. Here Keith began to manage the critical transitory phase of adolescence while attending Verrado High School in Arizona.

When Keith was in his junior year in 2019, he had to switch schools again, catalyzed by his mother’s job shift in the oil and gas industry. He joined Biloxi High School in Biloxi, Mississippi. His steady focus, raw talent, and determination fostered his development as an outstanding baseball player, for which he was recognized with the esteemed title of Gatorade Baseball Player of the Year for the state of Mississippi. His incredible statistics included a .527 batting average, nine home runs, and a whopping 49 runs batted in (RBIs).

In 2020, while serving his senior year, Keith performed impressively despite the constrained sports season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He showcased his talent by scoring a batting average of .269 with eight RBIs before the unfortunate cancellation of the season. Compensating for the unexpected truncation of his high school baseball career, Keith took a monumental leap into his professional career. He was fortuitously chosen by the Detroit Tigers in the fifth round of the 2020 Major League baseball draft. Consequently, he decided to commit to the Detroit Tigers and forgo his opportunity to play college baseball at Arizona State University.

In 2021, Keith propelled his career to greater heights, making his professional debut with the Florida Complex League Tigers. His exceptional athletic skills led to his promotion to play with the Lakeland Flying Tigers and the West Michigan Whitecaps. During his time with these teams, he played 65 games and produced awe-inspiring statistics: a slash line of .286/.396/.789, two home runs, 32 RBIs, eight doubles, and five triples.

Keith initiated the 2022 season with the West Michigan team contributing significantly in 48 games with a remarkable slash of .301/.370/.544, nine home runs, and 31 RBIs. Keith also had a stint with the Salt River Rafters at the Arizona Fall League, scoring a sublime hitting record of .344/.463/.541 with three home runs and 10 RBIs in just 19 games.

Before stepping into the 2023 season, Keith was distinguished as the No. 1 prospect in the Detroit Tigers and ranked an impressive 93rd on the overall list. His 2023 journey began with the Double-A Erie SeaWolves. On May 16, 2023, In a game against the Harrisburg Senators, he displayed a stellar performance, scoring 6-for-6 with 2 home runs and scalping the cycle.

He played 59 games with the Erie, recording an impressive .325/.391/.585 batting record, 14 home runs, and 50 RBIs, which later led to his promotion to the Triple-A Toledo Mud Hens on June 26. On the same day, he grabbed a spot on the 2023 All-Star Futures Game. Within 67 games with Erie, he performed outstandingly well, batting .287/.369/.521 with 13 home runs, and 51 RBIs. Further, Baseball America recognized him as the 2023 Tigers Minor League Player of the Year.

In January 2024, Keith made huge strides by signing a six-year contract with the Tigers, worth a staggering $28,642,500, including club options for the years 2030, 2031, and 2032. In March of the same year, Keith was rewarded for his remarkable performances by being named to the Tigers’ Opening Day roster.
