Bradley Blalock's Biography

Bradley Christopher Blalock, born on Christmas day in the year 2000, is a professional American baseball player currently positioned as a pitcher for the Colorado Rockies, a Major League Baseball (MLB) team. Before joining the Rockies, his pitching prowess was showcased on the Milwaukee Brewers’ turf.

Raised in Loganville, Georgia, Blalock’s early experiences in baseball were fostered at Grayson High School. Upon demonstrating unignorable aptitude in the sport, Blalock was drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the 32nd round of the 2019 Major League Baseball draft, nabbing the 977th spot overall. This marked the start of his professional journey on the diamond.

Assigned to the rookie-level Gulf Coast League Red Sox, Blalock debuted with a 6.75 ERA, recording significant playtime during four games. Of those games, he started as the pitcher in three. The next year, however, was not as fruitful for the budding athlete. The sudden outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, resulting in a blanket cancellation of the minor league season in 2020, left him without the opportunity to play.

As the world found new ways to persist, so did baseball. The resumption of the sport saw Blalock spending his 2021 season with the Single-A Salem Red Sox. Despite the year-long hiatus from professional play, he showed impressive form, starting in 23 games. He finished the season with a 3-6 record and a 4.27 ERA while striking out 85 batters over 86 1⁄3 innings pitched.

Unfortunately, Blalock was again sidelined in March 2022 due to a health setback, requiring him to undergo Tommy John surgery. The invasive procedure resulted in him missing the entire season, temporarily pausing his steady ascent in the baseball world.

Upon his recovery in 2023, Blalock re-entered the field with Salem before quickly being promoted to the High-A Greenville Drive. His re-entry into the game was marked with a 5-1 record and a 2.55 ERA across seven starts, striking out 36 across 35⅓ innings pitched.

In August of 2023, the Red Sox traded Bradley to the Milwaukee Brewers in a player exchange deal that saw Luis Urías joining the Sox. While with the Brewers, Blalock continued to perform well. He made four starts for the High-A Wisconsin Timber Rattlers before season’s end, posting a 5.27 ERA with 17 strikeouts across 13+2⁄3 innings pitched. Subsequently, the Brewers added him to their 40-man roster to guard against the possibility of a Rule 5 draft.

The 2024 season saw Blalock reassigned to the Double-A Biloxi Shuckers. His season was marked by seven starts, during which he rose to the occasion with a 2.27 ERA and accomplished 29 strikeouts across 35+2⁄3 innings. This commendable performance ultimately promoted him to the major leagues for the first time in May 2024. Although he did not go on to play in a game and was soon reassigned to the Shuckers, this marked a milestone in his professional journey. By June 2024, he was promoted to the major leagues again and was offered the opportunity to make his MLB debut, establishing himself as a recognizable force on the pitch.

In a significant trade deal occurring in July 2024, both Blalock and Yujanyer Herrera transitioned to the Colorado Rockies, with Nick Mears moving in the opposite direction to join Brewers. Continuing to carve out his career under the bright lights of the major leagues, Bradley Christopher Blalock has become a familiar name within MLB circles, upholding an unwavering trajectory that began at Grayson High School and shows no signs of wavering.
