Alex Verdugo's Biography

Alexander Brady Verdugo, famously known as Alex Verdugo, was born on 15th May 1996 in an American family with a mixed lineage of Mexico on his father’s side and Minnesota on his mother’s side. He is a renowned baseball outfielder and a part of the New York Yankees of Major League Baseball (MLB). His passion for baseball was evident from a young age when he attended Sahuaro High School in Tucson, Arizona.

During the early phase of his career, Verdugo was affiliated with the Los Angeles Dodgers and Boston Red Sox before joining the New York Yankees. His skill and perseverance led to his selection by the Dodgers in the second round of the 2014 MLB draft. His astounding performance in 49 games for the Arizona League Dodgers caused him to have a batting average of .347. His achievements did not go unnoticed as he was awarded post-season Arizona League All-Star honors and Baseball America Rookie league all-star honors, which were stepping stones towards his illustrious baseball career.

Verdugo climbed his career ladder swiftly with his next landmark being his inclusion in the Dodgers’ opening in 2019 and getting nominated twice to represent the Pacific Coast League at the Triple-A All-Star Game, with the second time in 2018.

During this stint, he excelled as a regular corner outfielder, marked by an impressive batting average of .308 with six home runs and 15 RBIs in 53 games during the 2020 season. Back on the field in 2021, Verdugo played a pivotal role in Boston’s outfield, claiming a batting average of .289 in 146 regular-season games and an impressive .310 in the postseason games.

However, the year 2023 brought a series of challenges for Verdugo as he started dealing with skin issues and pain in his hands. Despite his health challenge, his performance remained untouched as he played an impressive inning. His dedication and outstanding performance led to him bagging a one-year contract with the Red Sox in 2023. However, by the end of the year, he was traded to The New York Yankees.
