Tucker Gleason's Biography

Tucker Gleason is a recognized American football quarterback currently playing for the Toledo Rockets. Before joining the Rockets, Gleason had an impressive stint at Georgia Tech, where he proved to be an integral part of the formidable Yellow Jackets. As his career unfolds, Gleason stands as an impressive figure in the field, demonstrating what it takes to excel in one of America’s most beloved sports.

Born and raised in sunny Tampa, Florida, Gleason’s foray into football began at an early age. His formative years on the football field were spent at East Lake High School before transferring to Plant High School during his junior year. His transition to Plant High was marked by groundbreaking achievements that affirmed his potential in football. Gleason engraved his name on the school’s record books becoming the second player in Plant High’s illustrious history to complete 2,000 passing yards and 1,000 rushing yards in a single season. He left imprints on the gridiron that would lay the foundation for his college and possibly professional football career.

Gleason’s three-star recruit status had renowned schools vouching for his football prowess. After considering multiple offers from Cincinnati, Duke, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, North Carolina, Pittsburgh, South Florida, Toledo, Vanderbilt, Virginia Tech, and West Virginia, he committed to Georgia Tech to further his athletic development. Gleason’s decision to join the Yellow Jackets marked the beginning of a remarkable journey towards refining his skills and understanding of the beautiful game.

In the 2020 season, Gleason, unfortunately, played only two games at Georgia Tech, without throwing a single recorded pass. This turn of events made Gleason re-evaluate his position at Georgia Tech, and he eventually entered the transfer portal, ultimately leading to a transition to Toledo.

On joining the Toledo Rockets, Gleason displayed his football acumen during the 2021 season in the three games he played. He completed five passes totaling 69 yards, reflecting the consistency of his quarterback displays. 2022 witnessed Gleason’s true coming of age as he started as a quarterback in pivotal games, most notably in Week 9 against Eastern Michigan and the Battle of I-75 against Bowling Green. During these games, Gleason superbly stepped up following an injury to Dequan Finn. His impressive stats earned him the MAC West Offensive Player of the Week title after he completed 15 of his 27 passes, along with 238 passing yards and three touchdowns during the Week 9 game.

Gleason’s successful run continued throughout the season, accumulating an impressive 884 passing yards, along with 185 rushing yards, and eight passing touchdowns by the close of the 2022 season. Gleason continued to impress and strengthen his quarterback credentials during the 2023 season.

Football is evidently a family affair for the Gleasons. His father, Jim, enjoyed a successful tenure as a linebacker and kicker at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology between 1990 and 1992. Gleason’s brothers, Jared and Thad, both had their respective football journeys, with Jared playing offensive line at Stetson in 2014 and Thad assuming the role of a long snapper at Colorado in 2017.

As Tucker Gleason’s journey unfolds, his passion and commitment to football are evident. With a combination of natural talent, hard work, and family legacy, he is primed to carve out a path in American football, and only time will determine the heights Gleason is likely to reach.
