Yet it is noteworthy that Foster did not start his journey with football until the latter part of his high school years.
Born and raised in Lakewood, Ohio, he attended the well-regarded St. Edward High School. Though renowned as an institution with a stellar athletics program, Foster’s original intent was in pursuing a career in basketball instead of football.
When he was ready to move on to college, he had two attractive basketball scholarship offers from the University of Akron and Eastern Kentucky University. However, Foster’s rare athletic abilities were not confined to the basketball court. In his senior year in high school, he finally decided to explore football. Despite being a novice to the sport, his undeniable talent was quickly observed.
Rated as a three-star football player even at such an early stage of his career, Foster was soon presented with an opportunity that would dramatically alter his career path. The Michigan State Spartans made him an offer that he could not resist, and so, he decided to commit to playing college football for them, making a shift from his basketball aspirations.
Foster’s first collegiate season in 2020 saw him display his skills in seven games. Despite making two tackles, Foster was not able to make any receptions during this time. However, as someone who had started playing football only recently, he was still finding his feet in the game.
The following year marked a significant step-up in his performance. At week ten of the 2021 season, Foster made his first career start. This game was noteworthy as he succeeded in bringing in three catches for 33 yards against Purdue. This performance was another instance of his growing acclimatization to the sport.
Throughout the 2021 season, Foster continued to display his mettle, achieving 12 receptions for 164 yards and making his first touchdown, in three games he started for the Michigan State Spartans.
In the 2022 season, Foster further improved his performance, making seven receptions for 98 yards and scoring another touchdown, setting yet another career milestone.
But it was the 2023 season that confirmed Foster’s place in the echelons of top performing wide receivers. He started in all 12 games for the Spartans, bringing in a considerable 43 receptions for 576 yards and three touchdowns.
Among his notable games during the 2023 season was week ten, where he recorded four receptions for 94 yards and a touchdown, helping Michigan State clinch a win against Nebraska.
