The forthcoming 2024 football season for the Central Michigan Chippewas, who are participating in the NCAA Division I FBS football, will be a significant one as they are going to represent the Central Michigan University under the grand flag of the Mid-American Conference (MAC). Brimming with talent from students drawn from all corners of the university, the Chippewas team has steadily carved its name in NCAA Football history. Under the vigilant guidance of head coach Jim McElwain, who is entering his sixth year at the helm, the Chippewas are preparing rigorously for the looming season. McElwain’s tenure has been a period of constant growth, learning, and teamwork for the players. He continues to develop new training regimens and strategies, ensuring each player reach their maximum potential. Chippewas look forward to another fruitful season under Jim’s leadership, keeping their spirits high and eyes on the goal.

Every home game for the Chippewas is a community event, drawing crowds from all sections of society to support their favourite team. The proud venue for these nail-biting matches is the iconic Kelly/Shorts Stadium, nestled in Mount Pleasant, Michigan, a town known for its love and support for college sports. The team and the fans remain hopeful for a satisfactory performance this season, enough to push the Chippewas up the rankings and into the championship contention.

On July 19th, the MAC announced its preseason coaches poll —a usual ritual of predicting team performances for the season. According to the poll, Central Michigan was forecasted to finish in the eighth position within the conference. While it may seem disappointing on the outset because they received no votes to win the MAC Championship, the Chippewas remain unfazed by the predictions. For them, the real game is on the field, and they have every intent to overturn the statistics through their performances.

The Chippewas schedule promises an action-packed season filled with the home and away games that will test their endurance and strength. The team will have to face rival teams in several iconic stadiums, including Pitbull Stadium, Memorial Stadium in Champaign, Illinois, Rynearson Stadium in Ypsilanti, MI, Yager Stadium in Oxford, OH, the Glass Bowl in Toledo, Ohio, and the Huskie Stadium in DeKalb, Illinois. They will also entertain their rivals and the passionate supporters at home turf at Kelly/Shorts Stadium.

Each quarter, second, third, or fourth, the Chippewas have promises to keep, and expectations to meet. They plan to soak up the energy from every crowd and use it to fuel their willpower and dedication on the field.
