Kevin Concepcion's Biography

Kevin “KC” Concepcion is an American football player famed for his extraordinary skills at wide receiver for the NC State Wolfpack. Concepcion, North Carolina native and testament of talent in the beautiful, yet punishing game of football, started his illustrious journey on the gridiron in his hometown, Charlotte.

Born and raised in Charlotte and attended Julius L. Chambers High School, Concepcion’s strong sense of community and unwavering loyalty to his state are evident. Even in his teenage years, it was evident to others that he was something truly special. His junior season at Julius L. Chambers High School saw him bring in an impressive 36 passes for a remarkable 458 yards. His performance wouldn’t end there, as he showed his versatility by also returning three punts that resulted in touchdowns.

His high school career concluded with even more impressive stats. Throughout his tenure, he managed to catch 65 passes for a mind-boggling 977 yards. He also scored 12 touchdowns, leaving a lasting mark as an unforgettable player in the annals of local High School football. Such remarkable stats garnered the interest of college scouts, earning him a well-deserved four-star rank as a recruit. At this point, Concepcion’s career was beginning to show its promising trajectory. He was considered the No. 8 player in North Carolina and was ranked as the No. 50 wide receiver nationwide according to Rivals – a sports recruiting website.

A fiercely contested recruitment process ensued, with several prestigious colleges vying for his signature including North Carolina, Boston College, Charlotte, Coastal Carolina, Duke, East Carolina, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Marshall, Maryland, Memphis, Michigan State, Mississippi State, Old Dominion, Penn State, Vanderbilt, Wake Forest, and West Virginia. Despite numerous options, Concepcion chose to remain in his home state and play college football at North Carolina State University.

In January 2023, Concepcion accordingly joined NC State as an early enrollee and his freshman season proved that the decision to draft him was worthwhile. Stationed consistently in his role as a wide receiver, he demonstrated some swift moves and elegant techniques that destroyed opposing defenses.

Consider the highly anticipated 2023 class session against their arch-rivals, University of North Carolina. In that memorable match, Concepcion succeeded in hauling in seven receptions for 131 yards, and scored two touchdowns. This performance cemented his place as a mainstay on the team, and a force to reckon with in American college football.

His true freshman season had him play in 12 games, starting 11 of them. By the end of the season, he had pulled off 64 receptions for a substantial 767 yards and stunned spectators with a double figure of 10 touchdowns. Adding more string to his bow, he showed his ability to adapt and displayed his running skills when he rushed 38 times to generate 297 yards.

His performance as a new recruit was utterly mesmerizing, setting the bar very high for future recruits to strive for. It made such an impact that the freshman broke the NC State’s records for the number of receptions and received yards within the same year. Indeed, his talent was noticeable and undeniable, and these initial achievements set the tone for a promising career for the future.
