Jordan Moore's Biography
Jordan Moore, born on 19 February 1994 in Glasgow, Scotland, has played a sizable role both on and off the football field. This bio traces his journey from Scotland’s professional football arena to his present role as Head of Talent ID & Recruitment at Dundee United. Moore’s story is not just about his passion for football but also his fight against skin cancer and his relentless effort to raise awareness about the insidious disease.
From an early age, Moore’s keen interest in football was evident. His path to professional football commenced with Dundee United, where he joined the team at the under-14 level. His career later took him on loan spells with Airdrieonians and Dunfermline Athletic.
One of the highlights of Moore’s early career was his loan to Scottish First Division side, Airdrie United, in February 2013. In his debut match against Hamilton Academical, Moore filled the spotlight, scoring from the penalty spot in a 2-2 draw. His stint with Airdrie witnessed him making a total of nine appearances, and in one game, he demonstrated his scoring prowess by hitting the net once more before he returned to Dundee United.
For the ensuing 2013-14 season, Moore moved to Scottish League One side Dunfermline Athletic on loan. Alongside him were his Dundee United teammates Ryan Ferguson and Luke Johnston. After substituting for Ryan Wallace in the final three minutes of a Scottish League Cup match, Moore made his debut for Dunfermline, aiding the team to a 2-0 away win. His career trajectory continued upwards, and he scored twice in a match against Stenhousemuir.
In February 2015, Moore found himself on loan with Queen’s Park, a Scottish League Two Club. His debut match for The Spiders ended in a decisive 4-1 win over Montrose wherein Moore added two late goals to his record, one of these from the penalty spot.
However, Moore’s climb in football coincided with a personal health crisis — his battle against skin cancer. In April 2014, Moore publicly discussed his diagnosis and subsequent treatment. Despite the toll of such a diagnosis, Moore received significant support from his teammates at both Dundee United and Dunfermline Athletic, who rallied around him wearing supportive T-shirts.
After successfully battling skin cancer, Moore expressed his intent to return to football, a decision that astounded the public, given he had a mere 1% chance of playing again. Moore’s courage and determination were acknowledged at the PFA Scotland awards in May 2015, where he was conferred with the Special Merit Award.
Moore left Dundee United in December 2015, marking the end of an era in his professional football journey. He played briefly for the Irish club, Limerick, and subsequently announced his retirement in August 2016. However, within the same month, he made a return to the sport, joining Junior side Kelty Hearts. His love for the sport was unwavering, but the focus had shifted from being a full-time footballer to increasing awareness and campaigning against cancer.
Throughout his journey, Moore has demonstrated the zeal of a footballer and the strength of a cancer survivor. His resilience offers hope, and his passionate commitment to cancer awareness continues to inspire. His leadership and tactical proficiency continue to benefit Dundee United, where he presently serves as Head of Talent ID & Recruitment. Always guided by a sporting spirit, Moore navigates his path, making invaluable contributions both on and off the football field.
