Jalen Oluwaseun Isaiah Milroe, born on December 13, 2002, is an accomplished American football player, best known as the quarterback for the renowned Alabama Crimson Tide. Milroe’s journey into sports was marked with hard work and raw talent, taking root at Tompkins High School in Katy, Texas. His time at this school was a testament to his skill, as a junior, where he successfully threw for 2,689 yards and 29 touchdowns, rushing for an additional 378 yards, and scoring eight touchdowns. His senior year in 2020 was equally impressive, seeing him pass for 1,136 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Throughout his high school career, Milroe consistently demonstrated his talents by recording an impressive 3,825 passing yards, 559 rushing yards, and 53 total touchdowns. Therefore, it was no surprise that his exceptional skills led Tompkins to more than 30 wins over three seasons. Despite initially committing to Texas, Milroe took an unexpected turn and decided to switch to the University of Alabama.

Immediately upon his arrival at Alabama, Milroe served as the backup to sophomore quarterback Bryce Young throughout the 2021 season. Although he was redshirted that season, Milroe managed to make an appearance in four games where he completed three passes for 41 yards, scored a touchdown and rushed for 57 yards over 15 carries. Despite remaining the backup to Bryce Young in the 2022 season, Milroe showed promise during Alabama’s Spring Game where he completed 11 passes for 149 yards, and scored a touchdown. In his first appearance of that season, he recorded eight completions, 76 yards, and a touchdown.

Milroe’s journey marked a significant change in week four against Arkansas when he took over as the quarterback after Bryce Young suffered an injury. His brilliant performance led Alabama to a 49-26 victory, setting the stage for his first career start against Texas A&M in the following week. Despite recording three turnovers, he threw for three touchdowns to secure a 24-20 win.

Entering the 2023 season, with Young’s departure, Milroe found himself competing with Ty Simpson and Tyler Buchner for Alabama’s starting quarterback position. After proving his worth, he was eventually named the starter. In week one against Middle Tennessee, Milroe led his team to a 56-7 victory, combining a total of three passing and two rushing touchdowns and throwing for 194 yards on 13 completions.

Despite a career first loss against No. 11 Texas, a tough lesson in resilience for Milroe, he was named the starting quarterback for the rest of the season by Nick Saban. This trust in his abilities saw Milroe secure victories over No. 14 LSU and Kentucky, and a memorable win over Auburn in the Iron Bowl.

The 2023 regular season was a proud one for Milroe, where he successfully led Alabama to a 12-1 record, including an SEC Championship. Milroe took home the MVP title in the 2023 SEC Championship Game where he passed for two touchdowns and 192 yards, securing a 27-24 victory over No. 1 Georgia.

The 2024 season saw Milroe returning stronger than ever in a heart-stopping game against No. 1 Michigan in the 2024 Rose Bowl, where despite a loss, Milroe showed determination and class on the field. The season opener against Western Kentucky saw an emphatic victory for Alabama, with Milroe scoring five touchdowns, three passing and two rushing, in a 63-0 win.

Away from the field, Milroe strongly identifies with his Christian faith, culminating in a baptism in 2022. In 2023, Milroe, together with fellow Crimson Tide defensive back Terrion Arnold, ventured into entrepreneurship by launching their merchandise brand ‘LANK’ (Let All Naysayers Know). Their brand has since become popular in Alabama merch stores and has been proudly worn by Alabama’s proud alumni in the NFL, such as Jalen Hurts.
