Hudson Card, born on July 29, 2001, is a talented American football quarterback currently known for his stint with the Purdue Boilermakers. However, his sporting journey, filled with numerous achievements, began years before his association with Purdue. A significant part of his football career owes its acclaim to his time at Lake Travis High School situated in Austin, Texas, where he showcased his skills as a four-star prospect. He even made it to the 2020 Under Armour All-America Game, underlining his immense sporting talent.

Although his athletic prowess became notable during his high school stint, Card’s actual journey started on the fields as a sophomore. During these early days, his promising panache for the sport earned him the position of the varsity backup quarterback. However, observing Card’s exceptional athleticism, the coaching staff decided to position him as a wide receiver. As a receiver, he made a name for himself, recording 69 receptions for 1,137 yards and 13 touchdowns. He also proved his capabilities as a quarterback, throwing for 597 yards when in reserve quarterback position.

Despite assuming the role of a quarterback sporadically, Card’s potential didn’t go unnoticed. Several scholarship offers came in, but the committed athlete decided to join the Texas Longhorns on May 25, 2018. As a senior, he received an invitation to play in the prestigious 2020 Under Armour All-American Game, cementing his place as a rising star in American football.

In 2020, as a true freshman, Card’s stint with Texas Longhorns began as a backup to Sam Ehlinger in only two games, leading him to take a redshirt. The following year in 2021, he found himself competing against Casey Thompson for the starting role. His consistent performances ensured he won this battle, subsequently being named the starting quarterback for the opening game. In his inaugural game, Card maintained a 14-for-21 on pass attempts record, throwing for 224 yards and piling up 2 touchdowns with zero interceptions; all these efforts culminated in a 38-18 win over Louisiana-Lafayette.

Despite an impressive start, Card’s journey as the team’s starting quarterback was short-lived. A poor performance in a game that resulted in a 40-21 blowout loss against Arkansas led to his replacement as the primary quarterback. Nevertheless, his steely resolve was evident in the 2022 season when he started three games filling in for an injured Quinn Ewers. However, his association with Texas ended on November 29, 2022, when he decided to enter the transfer portal.

Exiting the transfer portal, Card made his fans aware through a Twitter post that he had chosen Purdue as the next milestone in his career, committing to the team on December 26, 2022. Preparing for his redshirt junior season, Card is set to bring his skills, experiences, and sterling tenacity to the Purdue Boilermakers, promising an exciting new chapter in his sporting journey. He continues to inspire upcoming athletes and American football enthusiasts with his sheer talent and perseverance.
