His freshman year in 2020 saw him without a single snap, a development that was both surprising and disappointing.

However, Ethan did not let this setback deter his football aspirations. At the end of this rather uneventful season, he opted for a change in scenery and entered the NCAA transfer portal. This move marked a new chapter in his football career as he transferred to UCLA to further pursue his college career amidst new possibilities and opportunities.

Ethan’s stint at UCLA saw him quite literally get back in the game. The tenth week of the 2021 season was particularly memorable as it marked his first career start. Against all odds, Garbers demonstrated commendable resolve, completing 27 out of his 44 passes for 265 yards. In the following year, 2023, the fruits of Ethan’s determination and commitment began to ripen. He was named the starting quarterback for UCLA’s season opener against Coastal Carolina, a significant milestone in his career. He achieved this feat despite the stiff competition from Dante Moore and Collin Schlee, proving his talent and hard work.

Football for Garbers is not merely a sport but a family tradition. His older brother, Chase Garbers, was a notable quarterback at the college level, playing for the California Golden Bears. Both brothers share a fiery passion for football, embodying the spirit and dedication required for the game. Through their respective journeys, they continue to inspire many aspiring quarterbacks nationwide.
