Dominic Zvada, born on October 25, 2003, is an American Football player who is best known for his role as a placekicker. Standing out as a remarkable player, he has graced the fields for football powerhouses such as the Michigan Wolverines as well as the Arkansas State Red Wolves. Born in Chandler, Arizona, Dominic’s initial encounter with football was during his high school years at Valley Christian High School. It was here in Chandler where the first foundational stones of his football career were laid securely. Rising through the ranks as a promising player, he rallied his way onto the football landscape and emerged as a player of exceptional talent, rated as a five-star kicker.
His high school success quickly caught the eye of college scouts and he ultimately committed to play college football for the Arkansas State Red Wolves. This marked the beginning of Dominic’s collegiate football career and initiated a journey that would carry him into the upper echelons of the sport.
The 2022 season was Zvada’s first year as a collegiate player. Notably, he kicked 17 of his 18 field goal attempts to completion and made 30 of his 31 extra point attempts. Despite being blocked from scoring his only miss, Zvada’s debut season was an overwhelming success. He showcased a remarkable level of skill and precision that earned him recognition as a Lou Groza Award Semifinalist and a freshman All-American. In the subsequent 2023 season, Zvada once again displayed an astounding performance. He completed 17 out of 22 field goal attempts, and made all 41 of his extra points. However, after an extraordinary 2023 season, Dominic, always strategic about his career, entered the NCAA transfer portal.
The year 2024 marked a change in the trajectory of Zvada’s football career. He transferred to play for the Michigan Wolverines, where he continued to define and refine his legacy as a placekicker. An exciting opportunity came in the 2024 season opener versus Fresno State where Zvada was named the Wolverines’ leading kicker. He acquitted himself impressively by making all six kicks, three extra points, and three field goals with distances of 55, 53, and 45 yards respectively. This feat earned him recognition as the week one Big Ten co-special teams player of the week, reflecting his exceptional performance.
As the season progressed, Dominic’s kicker prowess only intensified. In week two against Texas, Zvada had perfect strides, with two field goals perfectly through the uprights with distances of 52 and 37 yards. But the crowning moment of his season happened in week five when the Wolverines faced Minnesota. Zvada successfully connected on his fourth field goal of over 50 yards and remained an unblemished 7 of 7 for the season. He made history being the only kicker in Michigan football history to successfully kick four field goals over 50 yards in a single season, earning him the week five Big Ten special teams player of the week award.
