It wasn’t long before he was offered a preferred walk-on status for the Michigan Wolverines on account of his grit, resilience, and talent.
Despite not being afforded the opportunity to feature in any games during the 2021 football season, Warren’s stellar commitment and dedication were recognized when he was named the Michigan Scout Team Player of the Year. In the 2022 season, despite limited game time, he managed to complete five out of nine pass attempts for 89 yards and rush three times for 30 yards. Subsequent to the 2022 season, the Wolverines decided to bolster their support for Warren and placed him on scholarship.
Warren’s crowning Academy achievement came in the 2023 season, when the Michigan Wolverines clinched the national championship title. Warren, although not able to complete any of his five pass attempts, was an active part of the journey and instrumental to their triumphant victory.
Entering the 2024 season, Warren vied for the coveted starting quarterback position alongside Alex Orji and Jack Tuttle. He made a compelling case for himself at Michigan’s 2024 Spring Game, notching up a splendid performance by completing six of nine pass attempts for 142 yards. With two touchdowns, his Maize team thumped the Blue team.
Warren commenced the 2024 season with a bang, as he was selected as the starting quarterback in the inaugural game against Fresno State. In his first collegiate start, he completed 15 of 25 passes for 118 yards, including his very first career touchdown pass, an 18-yard haul to Colston Loveland.
However, in the course of the fourth game against USC, Alex Orji replaced Warren as Michigan’s starting quarterback. Despite two majestic touchdowns, Warren also had six interceptions to his name across his first three starts. But this did not deter him as he earned his fourth start of the season against Michigan State in the ninth week. Warren exceptionally commanded the field, completing 13 of 19 pass attempts for 123 yards, inclusive of a spectacular touchdown pass which steered Michigan towards a thrilling 24-17 victory over their ardent rivals, the Spartans.
