Connor Bazelak's Biography
Connor Bazelak: An American Collegiate Football Journey
Born on September 22, 2000, Connor Bazelak is a renowned American College football quarterback currently playing for the Bowling Green Falcons. His football career pathway has seen him play for the Missouri Tigers and Indiana Hoosiers during his different tenure seasons.
Hailing from Dayton, Ohio, Bazelak’s passion for sports developed early in high school. Attending Archbishop Alter High School inaugurated his athletic profile as a multipurpose player representing the school in both basketball and football. However, it was in football that he rose to dominance. As a senior, Bazelak delivered an impressive record, passing for over 1,500 yards with 13 touchdowns and just two interceptions. This awe-inspiring performance was executed in a triple option offense from the unique wishbone formation.
Upon concluding his high school tenure, Bazelak committed to playing college football for the Missouri Tigers. He chose the Tigers over enticing offers from several powerhouse teams including Georgia, Purdue, North Carolina State, Kentucky, and Vanderbilt. At Missouri, he experienced a compelling freshman year, participating in three games which allowed him to use a redshirt and maintain an extra season of NCAA eligibility. Though he began as a starter in the final game against Arkansas, an unfortunate ACL tear midway through the game brought his freshman season to a premature close. Despite this setback, Bazelak completed 15 of 21 passes for a total of 144 yards during his preliminary season.
The redshirt freshman season saw Bazelak staging a comeback, taking over as quarterback in the Tigers’ first two games and subsequently being declared the team’s starter. He had an outstanding season, completing 218 of 324 passes for 2,366 yards. His performance earned him the title of the SEC co-Freshman of the Year and a spot on the watchlist for the prestigious Davey O’Brien Award going into his redshirt sophomore season. Bazelak demonstrated consistency and increased his accuracy, recording 2,548 yards, 16 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions in 11 games during his 2021 season.
Following his stint at Missouri, Bazelak experienced a change of scenery on the gridiron. He transferred to Indiana subsequent to an announcement on January 6, 2022. His tenure at Indiana was marked by memorable games, including a game-winning touchdown pass in a 23–20 victory against Illinois and recording a season-high 364 yards on 33–55 attempts in his third week against Western Kentucky. Bazelak’s time at Indiana encompassed nine starts in ten games, during which he completed 235-of-426 passes for 2,312 yards, 13 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions.
In late November 2022, he again made waves when he declared his intent to transfer, entering into the transfer portal. After a month of speculation, Bazelak announced his decision via Twitter to play for the Bowling Green Falcons. His debut season in 2023 saw a steady performance, throwing for 1,935 yards and achieving 14 total touchdowns despite some challenges, like missing a game due to a leg injury. Through all ups and downs, Bazelak remained committed to his team and his sport, announcing his intent to utilize his final year of eligibility to aim for a MAC Championship with Bowling Green.
For Bazelak, college football is not just a sport but a profound journey that has seen him play for landmark teams and reach accolades like his 50th collegiate touchdown pass and exceeding 10,000 career passing yards. His grit, talent, and dedication towards the sport reflect the sporting legacy of his father, Len Bazelak, who played college basketball at Dartmouth and holds the record for the highest career three-point percentage in the school’s history. Connor Bazelak’s inspiring journey continues to unfold, and the world watches in anticipation.
