Chrishon McCray's Biography

The Kent State Golden Flashes football team, representing Kent State University, will participate in the Mid-American Conference for the 2024 NCAA Division I FBS football season. This is an integral part of the narrative, as the team, famously known as the Golden Flashes, is demonstrating immense potential and ambition this season. Coach Kenni Burns, who is leading the team into this critical period of competition, is currently in his second year at the helm. This dynamic duo of Golden Flashes and Burns is excited at the prospect of competing at Dix Stadium, Kent State University’s home ground, situated in Kent, Ohio.

However, the pre-season coaches’ poll, announced on July 19 by the Mid-American Conference (MAC), painted a harsh picture for the Golden Flashes as they were chosen to finish last in the conference. This perception was seemingly echoed in the MAC Championship vote where the team received zero votes for the win. This obvious oversight has fuelled the competitive spirit of the team who are more determined than ever to prove their worth on the football field.

Throughout the season, the Golden Flashes football games are scheduled at various stadiums, respectively; the Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the Neyland Stadium in Knoxville, Tennessee, the Beaver Stadium in State College, Pennsylvania, Doyt Perry Stadium in Bowling Green, Ohio, and UB Stadium in Amherst, New York.

Further bolstering the team’s strength, Golden Flashes quarterback Tommy Ulatowski showcased commendable resilience when he threw for a career-high of 345 yards and secured three touchdowns during a homecoming game. However, it was a tough match, ending up in a tied score of 21–21 against the Eagles in the third quarter. The Golden Flashes team, unfortunately, has not yet held a clear lead in any game during the first five games of the season.

Riding on this momentum, the Golden Flashes have shown promise through Chrishon McCray, their wide receiver, during their game held at Dix Stadium. His exceptional performance included eight receptions, three touchdowns, and a career high of 213 receiving yards. This impressive feat has seen McCray named the MAC Offensive Player of the Week, a title the whole team is proud of.

The Golden Flashes will continue to tour different stadiums for games during this football season, with scheduled matches at Waldo Stadium in Kalamazoo, Michigan, Yager Stadium in Oxford, Ohio, and with a returning game again at Dix Stadium, providing yet another opportunity for victory on their home turf. The determination and dedication of this team are palpable, and the Kent State Golden Flashes football team, led by Coach Kenni Burns, has high hopes for the remainder of the season.
