Chase Hendricks's Biography

Chase Rice, born on September 19, 1985, is a recognized figure in the American music scene, particularly for his work in country music. Born in Florida and raised on an Asheville farm in North Carolina, Rice established his roots in the rural simplistic charm of American culture that would undeniably shape his musical career.

Rice began his journey not in the music industry, but on the football field and the racetrack. He was a promising college football linebacker for the North Carolina Tar Heels, however, an injury nullified his chances of pursuing an NFL career. Post college, he joined Hendrick Motorsports as a NASCAR pit crew member, playing a crucial role as a rear tire carrier for Ryan Newman’s Nationwide Series car. Additionally, he worked on Jimmie Johnson’s Sprint Cup Series car, winning two championships with the Lowe’s team.

A strategic shift transpired in 2010 when Rice participated in Survivor: Nicaragua. His gameplay navigated him to the final three, where he competed for the coveted title of “Sole Survivor.” Although he was unsuccessful in claiming the title, Rice utilized his national media exposure through Survivor for an all-important life event for redirected life goals.

Around the same time, he earnestly turned his attention toward a career in country music. Reflecting on his father’s wise words, “boy anyone can play guitar, but no one is gonna really listen to you until you start singing,” Rice started creating his music, culminating in six studio albums to date. It began with his first studio album, Friday Nights & Sunday Mornings, in 2010. This album included the first song he ever wrote, “Larger Than Life,” a tribute to his late father.

Come 2011, Rice released an EP featuring his single “Buzz Back”. His next album, Dirt Road Communion, debuted at number 48 on the Billboard Country Albums chart a year later.

By 2012, Rice had signed a contract with Creative Artists Agency, and was also a co-writer for Florida Georgia Line’s chart-topping song “Cruise.” All these successful ventures underscored his rising prominence in the country music industry.

His successive years also witnessed a continuous upward trend in his career. 2013 saw the release of another EP, Ready Set Roll, which included the platinum-certified title track. His third album, Ignite the Night, followed in 2014, debuting at the top of the Billboard Top Country Albums chart.

In 2016, his single, “Whisper” disappointed in terms of commercial success and only reached 56th position on the Country Airplay chart. The following years saw him navigating through some obstacles in his musical career. But overcoming such challenges, Rice’s single “Three Chords and the Truth” managed to crack the Top 25 of the Country Airplay chart.

Controversy stirred in 2020 when Rice performed a concert during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic at the Brushy Mountain State Penitentiary where safety measures were largely ignored. Despite mounting criticism, Rice didn’t back down stating, “I personally choose not to live scared, especially of something that I can’t control.”

Despite all odds, Rice remained dedicated to his music. With the 2021 release of his fifth studio album, The Album, and the subsequent release of his sixth album I Hate Cowboys & All Dogs Go to Hell, Rice continued to establish his legacy in the industry. His upcoming headlining “Get Western Tour” across Canada and the Pacific Northwest in 2024 is a testament to his unyielding commitment to his craft.

Rice’s climb in the entertainment industry has been a blend of ups and downs. His journey traces through being a college football player, NASCAR pit crew member, reality television contestant, to finally, a renowned country musician. Despite hitting many bumps along the way, Chase Rice continues to create influential music that echoes the spirit of country life. His persistence and resolve to tell his story through music serve as a reminder that grit and determination often weave the most resonant melodies.
