Chandler Morris's Biography
Chandler Morris was born on December 26th, 2000, in the bustling city of Houston, Texas, unaware that he would become one of the prominent American football quarterbacks. As the son of the well-known coach Chad Morris, Chandler garnered in-depth insight into the sport at a very early age. His family moved across several regions, following his father’s coaching career which spanned multiple Texas regions, Oklahoma, and South Carolina.
A significant part of Chandler’s life was impacted by his father’s profession as a coach. He particularly witnessed his father rise to the helm of Southern Methodist University’s football team while he was attending Highland Park High School. As an apprentice of the sport, Chandler constantly grew in his skill set, eventually earning his place as an Under Armour All-American.
Chandler, during his junior year at Highland Park High School, led his team to an awe-inspiring 16-0 record in the position of a quarterback. Culminating in winning Class 5A-1 state championship and Chandler being declared as the valuable player of the championship series. Chandler showcased an outstanding performance, finishing the season with an impressive 4,036 passing yards and 46 touchdowns, minimizing his errors to a meagre six interceptions thrown.
Stepping into his senior years, Chandler continued to enhance his skills. He passed for 3,658 yards and threw 42 touchdowns. Adding to his accomplishments, he totaled 635 rushing yards for 17 touchdowns, leading him to secure district MVP honors in senior years. Chandler, evaluated as a three-star recruit, initially wanted to join the Arkansas Razorbacks. However, he dropped his plans following his father Chad’s dismissal as their team’s coach.
Chandler decided to spread his wings into the college football circuit by joining the Oklahoma Sooners where he made his mark. His debut year as a true freshman in 2020 saw him complete three-of-five pass attempts. However, to further amplify his career, Chandler adopted the challenge of transferring after his first season with the Sooners.
His journey eventually led him to the Texas Christian University (TCU) Horned Frogs in 2021. His rookie year at TCU consisted of playing four games as a redshirt preserving football player. Chandler led his team to a remarkable win of 30-28 against Baylor by contributing 531 yards of offense, including 461 passing yards and 70 rushing yards, bagging the Big 12 Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors. Despite a great start, the season was marred by an injury, which led to Chandler missing significant time. Once he recovered, Chandler placed in the backup role behind Duggan. In spite of the setback, Chandler completed the season with 18 completed passes out of 27 attempts for 145 yards scoring one touchdown.
Returning as the starter, Chandler led TCU at the beginning of the 2023 season. Opening against Colorado, he completed 24 out of 42 pass attempts for 279 yards with two touchdowns but the scores were upset by a score of 45–42.
By mid-December 2023, Chandler decided to enter the transfer portal for the second time in his career journey.
