Brady Cook's Biography

Brady Cook, esteemed American football quarterback for the Missouri Tigers, has had a dynamic footfall journey since his early beginnings. Born on October 12, 2001, Cook’s passion for the sport started from a very young age, propelling him through various stages of success and achievement. His athletic career took off during his days at Chaminade College Preparatory School in Creve Coeur, Missouri. Cook, by the end of his senior year, had impressively pitched for 33 touchdowns and 3,194 yards.

Cook’s exceptional performance was highly recognized as he was rated a three-star recruit and was named the number one quarterback in Missouri. His skills, determination, and talent combined, earning him an opportunity to play at a higher level. He committed to the University of Missouri to play college football, thus embarking on a new journey of his career.

In 2020, Cook redshirted and featured in three games. Though a rookie, Cook recorded 72 yards passing and one touchdown, showcasing his tremendous potential. Ahead of the 2021 season, Cook was slated as the backup to Connor Bazelak. After Bazelak struggled with his performance and suffered an injury, Cook was given his major playing time against Georgia. Despite suffering a loss, Cook displayed exceptional grit by throwing for 78 yards.

Cook’s first big break came when he made his premier career start against Army in the 2021 Armed Forces Bowl. His commendable 238 passing yards and a touchdown, coupled with a 53-yard rushing touchdown, signaled the arrival of a new talent in the scene. Entering the 2022 season, Cook was named the starting quarterback. Even in the initial stages, Cook manifested outstanding leadership, leading Missouri to a 2-2 start. His shining achievement was notably the three-touchdown performance against Abilene Christian.

Cook’s dynamism and prowess rose to prominence when he led Missouri to a 22-12 lead over No.1 Georgia in the fourth quarter. Job’s victory, however, eluded them when Georgia scored 14 unanswered points to win 26-22. Cook, nevertheless, ended the game with an impressive 192 yards and a touchdown.

Cook’s performance during the season was nothing short of remarkable. He ended the season throwing for 2,739 yards, 14 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. Moreover, he rushed for 585 yards and six touchdowns, leading Missouri to the 2022 Gasparilla Bowl.

Entering the 2023 season, Cook endured fierce competition with Jake Garcia and Sam Horn for the position of Missouri’s starting quarterback. Nevertheless, Cook’s talent prevailed as he was named the starter. It was during week three against No. 15 Kansas State, that he threw for 356 yards and contributed three total touchdowns, leading to a 30–27 upset victory.

Cook’s resilience came to light again during his match against Vanderbilt. Cook struck with a then career-high of 395 yards and four touchdowns, transforming the game into a 38-21 rout. This game marked Cook’s ascendancy to glory when he set an SEC record for most consecutive passes without an interception, breaking the previous record set by former Kentucky quarterback Andre’ Woodson.

Despite a temporary setback with LSU’s 49-39 victory, Cook managed to rally Missouri to a 38-21 win over No. 24 Kentucky, contributing two total touchdowns. Following this, he led Missouri to a 10–2 record and a conspicuous appearance in the 2023 Cotton Bowl Classic. In the classic, Cook shone as an offensive phenom, bagging the game’s MVP by throwing for 128 yards and a touchdown. His exceptional performance led Missouri to a 14-3 victory over Ohio State.

Cook made the admirable decision to return to Missouri for the next season. During the season opener, he threw for 218 yards and contributed two touchdowns, thus scoring a 51-0 rout against Murray State. Off the field, Cook is the son of Jim and Amy Cook, sharing a strong bond with his family whilst being an ardent fan of the Missouri Tigers himself. Ascending even in academics, Cook was named the SEC Scholar Athlete of the year in 2023 and was also recognized in the 2021 SEC Academic Honor Roll.
