Archibald Charles Manning, famously known as Archie Manning, was born on April 27, 2005, and has carved a name for himself in the world of American football. Currently the quarterback for the Texas Longhorns, he hails from the prestigious Manning family. From childhood, Manning was passionate about the game, his interest and talent nurtured in the halls of the Isidore Newman School in New Orleans, where he played high school football.

Consequently, it came as no surprise when, as a freshman, he was the varsity starter at quarterback – the first freshman quarterback to start Newman’s season opener in over four decades. It was here that Manning displayed his prowess in the sport, leading the Newman team to an impressive 26-point victory in his debut game. Despite a less favorable performance in the last game of the season against Dunham, Manning displayed exceptional skills throughout the season. With a commendable total of 2,509 yards and 34 touchdowns, he ended his freshman season, earning the prestigious MaxPreps National Freshman of the Year honors.

Subsequently, in his sophomore season, Manning opened with a big bang, securing six touchdowns against East Jefferson. As he progressed in his career, he made his national television debut on October 15, 2020. Showcasing his capabilities further, he led his team to an impressive win over Cohen, scoring five touchdowns. He even helped Newman secure a favorable position in the Division III playoffs.

Despite a slight setback at the semifinals against Lafayette Christian Academy when his passes came in less than 50 percent, Manning’s place as the starting quarterback for Newman for his junior season in 2021 was not in question. His 2021 records speak volumes of his skill and determination, amassing 1,841 yards, 26 touchdowns, accruing only four interceptions, and six rushing touchdowns.

As a senior in 2022, Manning’s skill level increased remarkably, as seen in the impressive victory over Pearl River where he surpassed both his uncle, Eli Manning and his father Peyton Manning’s achievements.

To allow Manning to keep his focus on his game, his family chose to keep him away from the media, declining interviews and premature scholarship offers. As part of his college search, he visited several institutions, including SMU, Clemson, LSU, Alabama, Texas, Georgia, Virginia, and Ole Miss. Eventually, in December 2022, Manning signed his intent to play for the University of Texas and officially committed in June 2023.

During his time at Texas, Manning started as the team’s third-string quarterback. He made his college debut on November 24th, on a game against Texas Tech, before he was redshirted after that season. However, his impressive performance afterward made him the key player of the game against Colorado State.

During a game against UTSA, Manning came in to replace the injured Ewers and displayed exceptional skill in leading the Longhorns to an overwhelming victory. This performance solidified his place as the starting quarterback for the following week’s game against Louisiana-Monroe and earned him the title of SEC Freshman of the Week alongside Texas A&M quarterback Marcel Reed.

His family has a notable football heritage. As the nephew to his NFL quarterback brothers, Peyton and Eli, and his grandfather Archie Manning, he continues to live up to their legacy. His brother, Heid Manning, also shares the family’s passion for the sport and competed in lacrosse at Isidore Newman School. As he continues forging ahead in his career, Manning’s star continues to rise, effortlessly carrying the family’s football legacy forward.
