Cub Swanson is coming off back-to-back losses against Frankie Edgar and Shane Burgos, but he has seen plenty of success throughout his professional MMA career with notable wins over Brian Ortega, Doo Ho Choi and Artem Lobov amongst others. Swanson is known for his aggressive style inside the cage and has no problem taking risks when it comes to striking or grappling exchanges — something which might give him an edge over Dawodu who prefers to stay patient as he looks for openings to capitalize on.
On the other side, Hakeem Dawoudu possesses similar stature as his opponent standing at 5’10” tall with a reach of 73” while boasting an impressive 10-1 professional MMA record (with 1 draw). He made his UFC debut last year against Danny Henry at UFC Fight Night 130 where he picked up a TKO victory via ground strikes towards the end of round two after completely dominating the entire fight up until that point. Before that, we also witnessed him overpower Austin Arnett en route to scoring another TKO win earlier this year during UFC 231 prelims — further solidifying himself as an upcoming fighter who should not be taken lightly by any means whatsoever in this upcoming contest against Cub Swanson.
Given their previous performances inside the octagon coupled with style differences between them; I believe Hakeem Dawodd makes more sense from a betting perspective given that he is currently listed as slight favorite (-250) whereas Cub Swason finds himself being listed as underdog (+210). Although I will not dispute that this can go either way depending on how they fare during five rounds; based off previous experience alone; my money would definitely be on Hakeem Dawodod claiming victory when all said & done come Saturday night despite being slightly favored heading into this matchup — making him deserving winner regardless!
